Heading to sunny Norway this summer to soak in the fjords. This will be my first time. Any top Norway travel tips? #Norway #travel

@Lyle

how long you going, what areas, just you or family, etc.? the thing to do is get out into the country and go hiking IMO

@inquiline One week with the family, hitting a fjord tour so several towns along the coast

@Lyle

i'll ask a household member for recs, we've gone a number of memorable places but i can't remember names. will you be driving or actually attached to a tour?

if you are in Bergen which i assume you will be, take the funicular! this is not an insider tip by any means tho

@inquiline Attached, so we have a lot of freedom but then need to get back with the group. Ooh, I do love a good funicular. Sadly no Bergen this time
@Lyle oslo?
@Viss Sadly no, I’d love to see it

@Lyle @Viss boo, Oslo is great. Your bus pass includes the ferries and you can go to the islands and have a sandwich and a beer and swim in the Oslo fjord!

Next time ☺️

@Lyle If you're going to be in Oslo, there is the weirdest art museum I've ever seen. Must be experienced! It's the Emmanuel Vigeland museum. https://www.emanuelvigeland.museum.no/museum.htm

@Lyle Hi! Welcome! Just a warning that «sunny Norway» is not a permanent condition. Far from it in fact. I would highly recommend to drop by the cosy university city Trondheim with the Nidaros Cathedral #Nidarosdomen. Lots of if hiking opportunities in mid Norway as well.
@Lyle I went in fall so didn't have to put up with the cruise ships/tourist hordes but Geiranger (the drive in, the fjord views, the waterfalls) was amazing. Ålesund was fun and urban while the rural/mountain landscapes of Hornindal/Vestland were stunning! https://flickr.com/photos/namhenderson/albums/72157702540224715/with/43512014120
2018 Kornølfestival

Ålesund to Hornindal and back. With a stop in Geiranger. Sampled a diverse selection of (mostly) kveik homebrews and excellent commercials. Attended some cool and intimate demonstration/workshops and an informative Lars lecture. See also; mountainbrewery.org/2018/10/13/earthkveik/
