I mean YEAH; large language models have a few downsides. Massive resource and environmental concerns. It's pricing people out of the general purpose computers and destroying consumer electronics markets; it's poised to plunge the planet into a global recession; it's also unreliable, often hallucinating/bullshitting and is known to encourage delusional thinking up to and including AI psychosis; and it's largely peddled by fascists.
However, the people who hate on it, are making the critical mistake of labeling it as ALL bad. It's very important we don't undermine the small wedge of utility we could be having with it now.
Look at my specific anecdotal usage of it. How could that be bad? The massive forced capitalistic rollout of it steam rolling over everything cannot be bad in general. The uncritical inclusion of it into everything can't be all bad?
(god damn I hate this line of thinking.)
