PedroMJ@eniko An old person told me: By wearing a mask, people think I'm infectious and "repudiate" me with a grin face of disgust. This attitude is the result of some level of illiteracy. Wearing a mask protects others more than the wearer. Note: Depending on the particle size, normal masks ---mostly surgical--- are not effective. Sadly, the best method is to avoid going outside when pollutants are high.

Infoseepage@eniko And a lot of that is not organic. People are essentially giving themselves Miner's Lung from breathing that stuff. I lived on Maui, there were some times when there were fairly major eruptions going on and my Corsi box would saturate with black crud inside of a month. When there is no eruption going on I could usually get by with rebuilding the filter box once every 6 months. Everybody else was just breathing that "fresh tropical air."
