War ruined my lifesaving medicine

When the Russians shelled large pharmaceutical warehouses, Oleksandra faced the problem of ineffective medications that were supposed to replace the function of one of her organs.

Oleksandra has been living with thyroid problems for more than half her life. She has experienced chronic fatigue since she was 12 — but at the time, it seemed like something more.

When she was 17, she noticed the lump on the right side of her neck. For several more years, the #tumor didn't grow, and her #condition remained stable, but then she had a #baby and the tumor doubled in size in just two months.
She had her thyroid gland removed, underwent #radiation therapy, and now she can’t live without #hormone replacement therapy.
After another checkup, which showed results within normal limits, she bought a new package of medication at the #pharmacy — from the same manufacturer and at the same dosage. But the next test, the results were 10 times higher than before.

@timkmak And my guess is that she's taking levothyroxine, the generic form of Synthroid, one of the most commonly taken drugs in the world, esp among women with autoimmune thyroid conditions
