Another family gathering is approaching so it's time to make a cake! The local strawberries aren't ripe yet, which means no strawberry cake :(

But I've found another recipe that I wanted to try for a while. It's a quick one and I already did the first step: foundation and short rim from streusel dough.

My cake pan's coating is coming off, but the bottom part looks still like new. I need to check if the manufacturer sells the upper part separately...

German-style cheesecakes are made with fresh curd instead of cream cheese, so here's a metric kilogram of curd for you.

That gets mixed with eggs, sugar, melted butter, starch and vanilla (in this case a packet of pre-mixed dry ingredients for making vanilla pudding). The recipe also calls for egg cream liquor but I replaced that with the same amount of whipping cream.

A third of that curd batter gets mixed with pre-made poppyseed filling, which is just poppyseeds soaked in water and sugar with a bit of stabilizer.

The poppyseed batter gets poured onto the base dough, the rest goes on top. Time to bake everything for 70 minutes. That tin is heavy!

And now, as I clean everything up, I notice that a berry sauce would go perfectly with this cake. Oh well...

And that's it! Was tasty and well received. #baking #cake #cheesecake
@Kiki Oh, very promising! Do we get to see the final cake tomorrow?
@Oecan yup, that's the plan at least
