They’re turning coding into teaching: a high-skill job that is super valuable to society, but a lot of people disrespect it and think they could do it themselves just as well.

Zillion@fsou @paco @tante @pikesley The American Physical Society has a wonderful collection of crank letters and the like. One of my favorite stories: An editor told Feynman he couldn't call them "tadpole diagrams" because that's too undignified. Feynman replied that that was fine. Just call them "sperm diagrams." “Tadpole" was hastily approved. I did not actually see the correspondence, so I can't vouch for the story's authenticity.
