Racy Bicycle adverts

I cam across these - both Victorian/Edwardian from Waverley Bicycles - quite a difference in style - dressed to the almost! Waverley Bicycles were part of the Indiana Bicycle Company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Bicycle_Company

@Wen these young strumpets on their new fangled velocipedes! They'll be demanding the vote next...
@LordWoolamaloo A sliddery brae, tae be certain.
@Wen
Implicit in the choice of ad style being the configuration we currently have of 2 similar size wheels, was initially marketed as the "safety bicycle" and was aimed at women, while the inherently more risky Penny Farthing was more manly.
@calcius Yes, and the ‘Ordinary’ does feel precarious. I have one from the early 20th century.
@Wen

"EXTREME PENNY FARTHING" this had me clenching everything involuntarily :D Not surpised the bloke seems to be missing some teeth.

@Wen More cycling stuff from days gone by. The ladies are not related to me AFAIK.
@[email protected] Love these but unsure how many ladies would have been convinced that cycling is for them when there's a bum naked woman doing the advertising (unless of course you only want lesbians to cycle which is a strategy, I guess)
