Off on our first #EVRoadTrip in #BYD Atto2. Will be doing an extra charging stop on the first leg to confirm account set up ok for use at the Gull Kaiwaka (and to call at the Italian Bakery). #AotearoaNZ
Good to see that the Atto 2 has guessed that we are on a road trip. The projected range has dropped in reaction to driving at 80-100 km/h rather than my average 12 km/h commute. #EVRoadTrip
Happily munching on the yummy rolls from Kaiwaka Italian Bakery at mum's in Dargaville. We did a drive by of a couple of the public chargers in town. Will do a top-up before heading over to Whangarei this evening. #EVRoadTrip#BYD
Minor excitement on the drive back to Dargaville from Whangarei. Came across a car sideways across SH14, a ute parked opposite it. Stopped well back, put on hazards (remembered that the button is in the center console), partner was asking mum where we were for the 111 call as I was thinking 'time to go for a walk'. Then the first fire engine arrived so we stayed put. Once they put the cones out they waved us through. Ambulance went past a couple of minutes later, we had seen a person standing next to the road at the site. #EVRoadTrip
Home fine from first #BYD Atto 2 #EVRoadTrip. As expected ABRP battery level prediction was conservative, possibly due to a bunch of 80-90 km/h driving vs 100 km/h. Have decided to minimize night driving on NZ rural highways with low traffic, needs more concentration without engine/gearbox giving info, and low feedback from Atto 2 suspension.
The LEAF reckons that over the past 53 hours, 58 minutes, and over the past 999km I have averaged 6.2km/kWh which is what it now uses to calculate my range.
