If Iran ever gets somebody to fly a plane into AWS us-east1 the global economy would probably stop.

@GossiTheDog You say that like it's a bad thing. A mixed blessing at most

@rsalz @GossiTheDog

just call it "chaos monkey" testing...

@GossiTheDog that might actually help in the long run.
@GossiTheDog I'm surprised they haven't aimed for the cable landing stations in the area tbh. Breaking connectivity would be a major step setting everyone else back to the stone age
@GossiTheDog all they need is to SEO bomb the slop farms and the USAF would do it for them
@GossiTheDog Plane? In this economy? No what you do is have an intern push a global rm -rf to prod. Even better schedule it as a cron. Git comment "implemented aggressive storage optimization strategy"
@GossiTheDog if i understood correctly, Azure West Europe is a building next to Schipol airport.
All it takes is a bit of misfortune and at least Finland would go back 30 years.
@GossiTheDog @Techmeme Don’t threaten my consulting business with such a good time, I can only handle a number of clients
@GossiTheDog I am so here for us-east1 and indeed the whole AWS project turning to dust. Give us back the decentralised internet and reverse the enclosure of the commons.

@GossiTheDog

Unlikely, but trumpistan might begin to learn a lesson and clean up trash.

Two legged oligarch and criminal clan trash that is.

@GossiTheDog Is there a petition somewhere to make this happen?
@GossiTheDog there are missing drones from a US Army base…
@GossiTheDog So is that like a fundraiser or...
@GossiTheDog remember how ukraine got drones deep into russia by having a concealed drone starting pad on a truck.
Iran remembers.
@GossiTheDog I drove by it the other day (I live in Ashburn) to see if there was any sort of additional security. Nothing!
@GossiTheDog So the next outage we can play Drone or Vibe Coding?
@GossiTheDog Since it is that very economy which is ruining our ecology, maybe we should do everything we can to stop it, take it apart, and then put it back together in a sustainable way, although that would imply ending anything resembling capitalism for good, because any kind of capitalist economy only works as long as there's growth, and growth is over, it's not coming back ever again, we've hit the Earth's limits, exceeded them actually.
@GossiTheDog I'm more concerned about the power grid. Generators and UPSes can probably only go so far.
Announcing: Movie-Plot Threat Contest - Schneier on Security

NOTE: If you have a blog, please spread the word. For a while now, I have been writing about our penchant for “movie-plot threats“: terrorist fears based on very specific attack scenarios. Terrorists with crop dusters, terrorists exploding baby carriages in subways, terrorists filling school buses with explosives—these are all movie-plot threats. They’re good for scaring people, but it’s just silly to build national security policy around them. But if we’re going to worry about unlikely attacks, why can’t they be exciting and innovative ones? If Americans are going to be scared, shouldn’t they be scared of things that are really scary? “Blowing up the Super Bowl” is a movie plot to be sure, but it’s ...

@GossiTheDog The delivery drones will fight back! 😆
