Someone here was shocked when I said condos going for less than 500k were a good thing. Yeah this is Toronto condo prices have no self control.

@catzilla @mayintoronto What sort of puzzles me about these really expensive condos is that you can get a lot of house for that kind of money (or less). Clearly these are aimed at people who really, really want to live downtown in a swank condo and won't accept, say, this $8.2 million modern house in a fairly nice location:

@cks @mayintoronto As someone just desperately moving away from the suburb, I absolutely get why someone would not buy the house. I am counting the days to get rid of mine and move into a much smaller downtown space.

My issue is just how insanely expensive these things are.

@catzilla @mayintoronto I agree with the appeal of condos overall. Maybe I'm mostly boggled by how little they seem to get for their $11M (but that listing sure was proud of that big empty living room space).

@catzilla @mayintoronto They haven’t been able to sell that one for a while. Every so often they delete the listing and recreate it under a new MLS number, so it resets various things. Allows them to adjust the price without the adjustment being logged against the existing MLS number.

@scrivolical @mayintoronto Very good catch. I checked housesigma which shows all previous listings - first one is from 2022 for 12M! They’ve shed a full million from the original listing price at this point.

And yes I agree that much glass at 56 storeys high must be so damn hot.

@catzilla If I had $11M and were selfish, I’d call up Brian Yuzna and ask him about his vision for the second Reanimator trilogy.

@catzilla if I had 11 million dollars and managed to invest it in a way that returned half of what is reasonable to expect, the income from the interest alone would more than double what I currently take home in a year.
