A speech by the EU's Energy Commissioner, Dan Jørgensen, last week. The guy's got a point:

@europeanspodcast It's not the general population that must learn. It's those in power that profit when fossil fuel prices rise.
@EndicottAuthor @europeanspodcast The 'general population' has no choice but to accept higher prices as 'the new normal' and are propagandized into believing that they must vote the same profiteers back in every time; One reason why left-leaning politicians were all but wiped out in most of 'The West' in the seventies! The middle-east 'fuel crises' spanned early 'seventies politics and let the profiteers and privateers stabilize economies by raiding (cutting) social support budgets.

@europeanspodcast

Depends on what his proposed "solutions" are.

@europeanspodcast Price control should be the first option, taxes on super-earnings like they have in Spain.
US fossil fuel lobbyists infiltrate the EU Parliament to dismantle the Green Deal

Interview with Swann Bommier of Bloom, the NGO that traced the coordinated strategy of the United States to unite the European right and far right against the CSDDD Directive

@europeanspodcast What was the next part of the speech? What does he want us to learn? (What I want everyone to learn has a lot to do with wind, solar, and batteries, but I might just be preaching to the choir on that here)
@europeanspodcast Great communication and indeed a good point. What should we learn though? Energy and markets are so complex with plenty of trade-offs and downstream effects that contingencies must be considered, as we replace fossil fuels. Shall I ask AI? 😉
