Just got my covid booster.

If you're over 65, or immunocompromised, you can get a vivid booster after 6 months. I haven't seen this mentioned much. Safeway texted to alert me, thank heavens.

The "Cicada" variant, officially named BA.3.2, is a new COVID-19 variant first detected in South Africa in November 2024. It has around 70 to 75 mutations in its spike protein, which may help it evade immunity from vaccines or prior infections. As of February 2026, it has been found in 23 countries, including the U.S., but accounts for less than 0.2% of COVID cases in the U.S.

This covid vaccine booster is the same shot I got in September. So it isn't formulated to fully combat the new variant. It's the best chance available. The pharmacist said it may not be effective against the Cicada variant. But that's not the only variant out there. In fact the cicada variant hasn't been detected in our state yet. There's heavy traffic headed to the beach already. So, it will be here shortly.
