If Donald Trump can be depended on for anything, it’s saying the quiet part out loud.

At an Easter lunch event at the White House yesterday, the president explained that the cost of war meant the the US government couldn’t afford to spend money on helping Americans meet their basic needs: "The United States can’t take care of daycare [..] We have all these other people; we’re fighting wars."
