In his continued firing spree, Fox News host Pete Hegseth fires Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and replaces him with his own aide Christopher LaNeve.

The U.S. is at war, and in total Pete Hegseth has fired 26 experienced generals and admirals in fourteen months, to surround himself with less competent loyalists.

Hegseth ousts Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George

One of the sources said Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth's vision for the Army.

@randahl Inspired by Stalin? (But going about it half-cocked, of course, if that.)
@randahl well they have the best toys so the people must be why they haven't beaten I-ran yet /s

@randahl

Hegseth should replace the generals with privates... a guy like that has already successfully devastated the world.

@randahl Just let him burn all bridges. He will also be replaced one day. Started with Noem. Still going on!
@randahl A more worrying take: in the run-in to the midterms, Hegseth is replacing all the generals who said “No” to him and refusing to promote people that probably would. I hope that this is not the preparation for a self-coup.

@ArtHarg @randahl

A majority of young men in the US army are MAGA. Trump does not need to replace the generals to command them. A truth social post is all it takes to instigate a coup.

It is more likely that Trump wants to use nuke in Iran, and he needs to eliminate the resistance from the upper echelon of the US armed force.

@kongakong @randahl Trump is terrified of nuclear war. I highly doubt that he would use nukes in Iran, knowing that Russia is an ally of Iran’s. There also isn’t much to be gained by using nukes on a mountainous country like Iran. It would not significantly degrade its fighting power compared to regular bombing. And it would seriously, *seriously* lower the thresholds for America’s enemies to use nukes against it. Trump is stupid, but not that stupid. (Famous last words, perhaps.)

@ArtHarg @randahl

With respect, no one knows what is going on in Trump's head. You simply can't assert "Trump is terrified of nuclear war" as if it is an objective fact. He can change his mind even half way in his public speech.

Trump only listens to the market. A crash is the only thing that terrifies him.

Trump is stupid, and he's surrounded by more stupid people like Hegseth who thinks he is waging holy war. They believe in projecting power. Nukes are the ultimate expression of that.

@randahl That‘s probably the reason why the war is going so well. (For a given value of „well“.)
@randahl विनाश काले विपरित बुद्धि
@randahl Wel whole thing comes crashing down because none of you listened to people who actually knew what they were doing , we won't be sorry🇺🇦💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
@randahl
At least they're not physically falling out of 15th floor trump hotel rooms (yet).

@randahl

What could possibly go wrong…

We can only hope he is digging his own political grave.

Or be fired by his mad boss.

@randahl
le "changement de régime" mais de quel pays au fait ? ...

@randahl Fascists doing fascist things.

Which is why they always lose the wars they start.

@randahl Fredo in Las Vegas.
@randahl
sycophant parade of dooshes
@randahl I'm eager to see news on that man *after* his political career.
@randahl sounds more and more similar to a rising authoritarian power some 90 years ago.
@randahl "sources said Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth's vision for the Army." The same vision they have for ICE. A gang of white loser thugs that think the world owes them something. #fucktrump #FuckHegseth

@randahl Yes. This is part of the fascist takeover, and maybe the most important one. If they understand nothing else, the regime does at least understand the fundamentals of how power works. (Neo-nazi dipshits such as Miller have been foolish enough to say this outloud, exposing their real motives.)

Real power ultimately resides in command of kinetic force. Who controls armed forces ultimately controls all. Hegseth is consolidating that control in service to one man, in case of armed coup.
