i love how space travel went from Star Trek: The Next Generation to Deep Space 9 in the space of one (1) lunar mission.

Apollo program: boldly going where nobody has been before, everyone is a decorated pilot putting their lives on the line in the most advanced tech.

Artemis II: shitters broken, "I have two versions of Outlook and neither of them are working".

that 00's joke has gone from cringe OS fanboy wars to Utopia levels of uncomfortable relevance:

> Why do astronauts use Linux?
> Because you can't open windows in space.

50 years on and space travel has become the techno utopia we have always wanted, as summed up in this quote from NASA's Artemis II livestream
@az "hey there are two outlooks and neither of them work"
@az I think it's time to update this comic.
@DocBohn @az it's a bad idea to open windows in space...

@DocBohn @az

2018: what are you doing with that 1.5 gig of ram? -- running slack
2026: what are you doing with those 48 gig of vram? -- having my chatbot read slack for me.

@az Don’t tell me it’s controlled from a bluetooth connected games console controller?
@az Just like meshtastic...
@az Why the everloving fuck did they use windows...or bluetooth for that matter

@az @superpixels

One thought I keep having about the Artemis II mission is the amount of time astronauts will spend looking at some black mirror touch screen. They might as well be some shlub having someone from home on speaker phone trying to guide them into remotely finding baking powder at the grocery.

But in Space!

@az … on earth as it is in heaven…

@az Someone please start a "Shit astronauts said in space" account for quotes like this.

At first I couldn't believe either were real, but they are.

@az
Remember Artemis II came about because Trump wanted to relieve his youth by putting people back on the moon.

So NASA hand to cancel a whole heap of actual science programs, learning about the earth, planets, our solar system and universe to make a bus to take meat to the moon for TV.

@az ground control to Major Tom
Are you on mute?
Are your speakers on?
hey does anyone know how I share my screen now I think this thing upgraded since yesterday when Iast tried it.
The Skype looks very different today ...
@az stop letting systems engineers touch computers
@az @NewtonMark
Nothing will beat Apollo 10 “Give me a napkin quick! There's A Turd Floating Through The Air”

@az Erm...

Not that I actually *know* anything about RF, but isn't the 2.4GHz band kinda noisy in space?

@az and lo it was predicted
