Every American would be basking in luxury, or at least square meals and healthcare, if our government only thought that investing in ourselves was more prudent than destroying everybody else. A country led by self-proclaimed "fiscal conservatives," no less. They're throwing our riches away.

@danielpunkass tbh, the same could easily apply to a number of countries. Which makes it even more relevant.

@danielpunkass I always feel that people concerned about federal taxes are always one search for “federal discretionary spending pie chart” away from self awareness.^

^ then you can remind folks that the nondiscretionary still includes $1.5 Trillion for financing past wars, veterans benefits, healthcare costs, maintenance of nuclear weapons (DoE budget not DoD). Because of how debt is structured it’s not entirely possible to say, but I argue that we still haven’t paid off World War 1.
