You would have to do the transfer several years beforehand anyway, iirc. There’s a 5-year lookback on medicaid anyway.

You have to do this at least five years in advance. Also another option is to put your assets in a trust. But if you do either of these with your house you may lose property tax exemptions like a homestead exemption.
