Had to file my taxes today and had misplaced a 1099-DIV. turns out, the IRS already knows how much I got paid out in interest, so had to jump through those hoops to make an account and give up all my data to some 3rd party log on system im sure they are selling to palintir to get the fucking data so i can give it to the fucking turboTax assholes who make it 10x harder than it needs to be rather than just paying what the IRS already knows. and god forbid we kept login dot gov which was actually baller as fuck and instead had to replace with some non gov thing so they could just subpeona the data theyre not legally allowed to collect
@darfplatypus the deeper you look into intuit, the deeper into the woods you will want to flee
@Viss i think if i want to go any deeper into the woods ill come out the other side.

@darfplatypus shit forbid they just use any standard authenticator app instead of dogshit id.‎me that requires a live picture of documents and my face. had to do this for absolutely zero reason a few weeks ago.. they just had to "make sure it was me"

mafk, you already see all my data from my employer and insist i can only do direct deposit. if you'd just sent me a fucking check like it was done for for 100 years we wouldn't have to do any of this.

@dank maybe if orgs didnt lose our data every 3 days and we had a national ID system that wasnt based on hopes and dreams on a paper meant to dissolve in the rain we could have some sense of security in our government systems.

@darfplatypus i had to renew my DL recently and since my passport was expired had to use a naturalization certificate. because the rules every agency uses for what "your real name" is aren't uniform, i now have three additional AKAs to deal with. my SS, DL, INS, and Passport names are all different.

how many ways can you spell 'Dan'? and why does country of origin matter for naming rules and ONLY ONE gov't agency forces a middle name on me when i've never, ever had one?
