Patience, patience, patience.

Booking long distance rail journeys is just like a puzzle. Fit all the pieces together and then try to actually book individual segments only for it all to fall apart.

Guess I love it really.

I really enjoyed the planning for our previous trips.
I'd like to say I enjoyed the planning as much as the trips, but that'd be a lie!

Sadly it very unlikely we'll be taking any more long rail trips again due to my wife's increasing lack of mobility.

@MikeFromLFE it’s a real shame our societies fail to value everyone equally regardless of their abilities or lack thereof.
@MartinJBreen
Indeed - on our last trip she really struggled with Czech and Slovak old-style carriages, as well as lack of empathy from SNCF employees.
Lack of seating, working lifts or escalators at some stations caused issues.
Don't even think of suggesting that anyone tries to unravel the mysterious world of Europe-wide passenger assistance! (Something that the UK does extremely well, in our experience)

@MikeFromLFE the UK does a lot of things well even if it doesn’t feel that way when you live there.

It’s a policy failing in the end of the day if a state doesn’t require accessible transportation. Policymakers may argue it would impose too high a cost on providers but that just exposes their actual level of commitment to equality.
