sudo
sue dough
sue do
Poll ends at .
@dysfun that second one is atrocious
@bhaktishh that second one is literally more representative of what it's supposed to be,, it's just it doesn't roll off the tongue as well
@dysfun @bhaktishh "ess yu do", given how su was pronounced
@dysfun I’ll sue your dough
@samir you wouldn't dare
@dysfun Try me.
@samir my dough is sour, sir.
@dysfun That’s not all that shall be sour by the time I’m done with you!
@dysfun (I feel like this is either really weird or really horny and I have no idea which.)
@dysfun The result was surprising to me (not a native English speaker). Why is sue-dough more natural to say? I suspect the ratio of people pronouncing "do" as "dough" would be different, but I am curious why there is a difference.

@jjj it is just how you would pronounce it. something about 'do' being a weird word i guess and having a prefix making it unlikely to be 'do'?

who can say? :)

@jjj oh also we have 'pseudo' as a modifier, which is pronounced the same way.
@dysfun Ah, that makes sense. And I also now learned how to pronounce "pseudo" correctly. :)
@dysfun do as
@chjara the artist formerly known as pseudo
