John@jmcrookston @ai6yr I was just thinking about this yesterday. It's probably just because I'm continuing forward old patterns of use but I wonder what would happen if I couldn't buy disk drives or optical media. It would mean no cold storage.
Imagine a society where all knowledge was on solid state devices that would fade some years after power failure.
I guess redundant SSD raids are fairly safe 😞
