Just wondering, who keeps an analog clock out on display in your home? I am thinking the older one is, the more likely. Let’s see! Ok to share. #Clock #Time #Analog #Digital
@cobalt123 I have a humongous #clock over my sink and a similarly humongous one in my jewelry studio. The one over my pantry doorway is actually a moon phase clock, but the battery is dead. (I should fix that.) All my clocks are analog; I do not like digital clocks. My only exception is my watch and phone, and that's because I don't want to have to put on a pair of glasses to see the time.

@mlanger ha, TWO wall clocks in your kitchen! The one over your sink is just like ours but yours is black! I don’t like digital clocks. Drew used to have a digital alarm clock that had a timer to start up his favorite radio station when the alarm went off.

I saw that as he became more confused at times due to Alzheimer ‘s that he could read the time but not know what that meant. If I put up the large analog clock he could say “7 (fifteen)” or “quarter after 7”easier he still knew what it meant. Now he can’t read a clock at all unless it is exactly at the full hour mark like “7 o’ clock.

I can see why most quick 30 point tests for dementia have the well-known part where someone has to draw a clock and put all the numbers on it. They also earn a point for having the big hand and the little hand correctly. I bet this test has to substitute a new question about time, perhaps 5 years or so from now. It won’t be so universal about analog clocks.

@cobalt123 The funny thing is, when someone asks me what time it is and I read the time on a digital clock, I automatically convert it to analog notation. For example, if it's 10:12 AM, I'll say "it's a quarter past ten." (And oddly, when I dictated that into my iPad, it transcribed it in digital time: 10:15.)
@mlanger Bingo! Me too! I’m so used to saying the time if it’s 7:53 am I’d just say “ten to 7” or “it’s almost 7”.
