Why did it take 70,000 dead? It’s also worth noting how rarely so-called left-wing #US politicians visit Europe. Perhaps it’s because they’d be exposed to the kind of scrutiny and accountability that comes with facing an audience less tolerant of double standards and complicity in human rights violations.
Progressive values demand more than belated shifts—they require a willingness to stand up for justice, even when it’s inconvenient.

Nah, the double standards and hypocrisy are now entrenched there too.

But let’s not rewrite history: The European left, especially in countries like Spain, has been at the forefront of the fight for Palestinian rights. While the U.S. was rubber-stamping weapons shipments, Spain’s government—led by a coalition of socialists and left-wing partners—was recognizing Palestinian statehood, cutting arms sales to Israel, and pushing the EU to hold Israel accountable. 2)

@Fou_ad Spanish cities, trade unions, and civil society have been leaders in the BDS movement, & Spain’s foreign policy under the current government has been one of the few bright spots in Europe’s otherwise tepid response. The European left, from the streets of Madrid to the halls of the European Parliament, has consistently demanded justice for Palestine. Meanwhile, the U.S. left—with a few exceptions—has largely failed to challenge its own government’s role in enabling this catastrophe. 3)

@Fou_ad You want to talk about "progressive values"? Look at who’s actually fighting for them—not just in words, but in policy, protests, and international courts. The U.S. has a lot to answer for, but so do those who equate criticism of Europe with ignoring America’s central role in this ongoing tragedy.
Solidarity with Palestine means naming the enablers—and celebrating those who resist.

No, Europe's Left has had as tepid a response as USs dems. The far left in some countries may have been demanding accountability. Spains response has been far from ideal and it took a lot of time for it to become what it is today. Live streamed genocide has been happening for two and a half years.

Civil society for the most part is blameless.
