A protected cycle lane in Bilbao, Spain.

It's hilly here so the cyclists have bigger thighs or bigger motors...

@meganL Hilly just means there's more places for downhill action :D
@meganL that looks horrible slippery when it's wet and going down hill...
@mariusor Yup. I took the photo from inside a bus so I don't know if they put grit in the paint for traction.
@meganL @mariusor oooh, you have a terrible lack of local culture.... People from #bilbao are famous Himalayas climbers equipped with a 2 ton txapela...🤠

@marioostolaza unlike the cyclists in the pro peloton I guess...

I still cringe remembering the fall from the 4th stage of the 2024 Itzulia. 🤕

@mariusor Okay, it's raining today so I saw it totally slick. Which means I could see the texturizing in the paint.

I'm not sure if that's as effective as grit would be, but grit would wear down sooner and also take a toll on people's tires.

Not sure how I'd do. As an older disabled person who still hasn't recovered from a (walking) fall last Dec, I take slick surfaces seriously.

I did see deliveristas up in the hills riding today.
