At the @BZKopensource we're about to pilot the government-wide codeplatform, based on #Forgejo, and we've had to promise that we would offer a similar uptime as #GitHub.

So.. do we just turn off the platform on Tuesdays? πŸ€”

@Gina @BZKopensource you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention.
What "government-wide codeplaftorm" means? Is it "github for governments"? Like any government can just opt in and keep their code there? Or what?
@leniwcowaty @BZKopensource yes, it's exactly that :) Still as a pilot though.
@Gina @BZKopensource oh, seems amazing! Too often I see either code hosted on Github or Bitbucket (sure, great idea...) or some in-house self-hosted on-premise Gitlab instance, that's years behind updates and security fixes, because "it works and our infrastructure is hyper specific, so if we update it it will crash and burn".
Having one, open-source, European sovereign place for it, not managed by American megacorporation, and still following all security guidelines would be awesome.

On Fridays, so you'll get the 3-day weekend as a bonus.
@Gina @BZKopensource Sounds too predictable, to simulate the full github experience let's also add two random workdays per month. If they hit a Tuesday, you get a critical success and just turn off the systems from Tuesday to Friday
@Gina 90% is a really achievable KPI! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@fedops @Gina @BZKopensource I mean you gotta hand it to GitHub. In this time of austerity, having six nines is a real extravagance. Feels like a big win for their engineers to optimise it down to just one.

@Gina I was asking on here for suggestions for collaborating with GitHub users on my self-hosted repo (still using gitea, need to move to forgejo). Someone replied that they would be skeptical that a one-off self-hoster would still be in business a few years in the future. I pointed out that I brought my web sites online about 10 years before GitHub was founded. So I have a longer track record than they do. After all, I don’t have a profit motive to shut things down. c.f. Skype.

@Gina I mean, it works for World of Warcraft.
