CA has a law that VC firms have to collect and report data on the companies they boost. The data were to be gathered by the state and published, after being anonymized. These rich guys leaned on the governor and, to quote Wired magazine, "After investors appealed to the governor, California again delayed the deadline for venture firms to disclose the demographics of startup founders they back."
Justice delayed is justice denied.
I guess there is maybe one good thing about this-- at least some venture capitalists think it would be shameful to appear racist and sexist. This is a long, long, way from ending racism and sexism in investing, but it's a start.
