@cabel My solution. 1. Discard WiFi printing and put a cable between PC and printer, or network it. If you must print from a phone/tablet send it to the connected PC. 2. Use a laser printer. Inlets will clog if you don't use them everyday and are ruinously expensive if you do. 3. Linux. CUPS on any recent mainstream distro will find a connected printer during installation and configure it automagically. I believe Apple and BSD use CUPS too but I've no experience with them.
