I was playing a record, heard it skip and looked over to see Spiegel on the turntable again.

Between the inelegant jump (he rarely skips the needle) his posture in the photo and how one ear is pointed backwards, maybe he's telling me he doesn't want to be listening to Strange Advance, the new wave band that formed here in Vancouver in 1981?

The "Spiegel hates this" playlist now has 8 tracks in comparison to "Spiegel likes this"'s 61. Sadly not #spiegelapproved

Editing to add, he seemed to like it after all

Hmm. I picked him up and put him down, went back into the living room, but now see he's back on the turntable. Maybe he likes Strange Advance after all? Hard to tell with shitheads.

@giflian Thanks to the shithead, I have now re-added “60 Minutes with… Strange Advance” to give another go to. Then, thanks to ‘You may also like…’ nonsense, I have also added the Spoons’ greatest hit package “Repeatable (1980–2020).”

All hail the Canadian ’80s bands!!

[:: avoided were The Box and Frozen Ghost ::]

@IanAMartin I subjected the listeners of #theplaylist to "We Run" on Monday. The debut album has some bangers.

I do like Spoons too.

I was just going to suggest the Spoons as a next one to play. Or perhaps some Thomas Dolby?
@DenOfEarth @IanAMartin @TheVinylApe nah, next is Images in Vogue, though I will surely run out of Vancouver new wave bands soon.

This thread gave me an earworm and I've finally put my finger on it: Torch Song for the Heroine" by Peter Godwin.
