Most striking desription I have heard about Trump’s Iran strategy:
“We break it, you own it.”
I do not think Europe will forget this profound stupidity in my lifetime.

Don't wanna be in the shoes of the next POTUS.
He will have to reconstruct 04.07.1776 in 20.01.2028.
@randahl
The world has changed on this.
This is the end of the WWII broken Europe USA GDP dividend.
The peace dividend wasn’t actually a real thing. It was a Europe US swap. US gained Europe’s GDP in exchange for security, and that security converted to European GDP. That was the ‘peace dividend’.
Europe gets to keep both now and as an aberration, the change is actually a correction, so it’s not reversible. US will stagflate and as they only look internally and can’t recognise Europe’s value, so they will not understand it.
@randahl lately Mattis said in an interview that trust is like a fleeing horse, is gallops away in high speed and eventually comes back at a very low speed.
Have the impression that years may pass until this is back, if ever.
@randahl
Maybe not Europe as a whole, but Denmark¹ will. "We" even manage to forget who the threat is every time there is talk about buying more fighter jets to be able to defend Greenland. A country of brown people will be easier to forget than that.
¹) By Denmark I mean the 175 inmates of a certain castle (I'm sure at least two of the remaining four will not forget).

“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy – they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”
