Why has NATO seemingly shifted its stance on getting involved in military deployments to (re)open the Strait of Hormuz?

Because, it now transpires that the Tangerine Tyrant threatened to withdraw support from Ukraine unless NATO members pitched into the US/Israeli initiated Iran conflict.

Obviously we shouldn't be surprised, the TT is always transactional, but this (to me) represents a new low even for him.... a complete disgrace as a human being!

@ChrisMayLA6 Wouldn't NATO members be better off telling TT to f off & putting their money into Ukraine instead?

@annehargreaves

Well, we may be about to pass over that rubicon if the Tangerine Tyrant fulfils his 'threat' to withdraw from NATO

@annehargreaves @ChrisMayLA6 It’s not the money, it’s the systems, the arms for those systems, the huge amount of training in usage & tactics, and the field logistics for maintenance & resupply.

And, in this case, having a kill switch we don’t control.

@BashStKid @annehargreaves @ChrisMayLA6 On the upside (and boy, is this ever a dark upside), Ukrainians are going gangbusters building out weapons R&D and manufacturing capacity. Trump threatening to stop access to PURL is bad, and will cost lives, but fighting to reopen Hormuz will also cost lives.

Fucking brutal negative-sum game here.
