'No Kings!' 8 Million Rally Against Trump in Largest Single-Day Protest in US History | Common Dreams - Lemmy

Last year many articles were saying that if the protests hit 3% of the population Trump was done. Welp it’s happened, so what does his exit look like?

Otherwise this is performative bullshit while we need hard action.

“B-but it takes so much time and effort!! Don’t worry we’ll be able to do something after 5 more years of doing this once every 6-12 months on the weekends when businesses are closed.”
If you think No Kings is the only resistance work happening right now in the U.S., you’re really not paying attention.
Are their demands concrete?
Have they escalated their tactics?
Yes. And yes. Here’s one example of resistance work in the U.S. resulting in concrete wins: Avelo Airlines used to run deportation flights for ICE. They were on the receiving end of an escalating pressure campaign from resistance groups to end those flights. And guess what? They finally did.
Let’s go for deathcamps next.

Feel free to join a resistance group working on that. There are many to choose from.
Oh really? SimpleX me active ones.
I don’t have SimpleX. The best resistance groups to join are probably ones local to wherever you’re located. See this comment for ideas on how to find them. But here are some examples of local efforts.

Thanks.

Seems these groups are not clear what more steps are necessary for Nazi liberation.

Each group is working on their own steps for this. And honestly that’s the strength of the resistance movement—it’s distributed, not top-down. Some groups will fail, but some will succeed. And “success” doesn’t mean that a group takes some action and instantly Trump is out of office and all of his cronies are behind bars. It means that a single win is achieved that gets us closer to that goal and puts ever-widening cracks in the regime’s pillars of support. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

That’s not how the Nazis in power see this, and ultimately why your slow marathon will leave you with none to save, nothing to eat. Urgency is paramount to any successful revolution.
Americans don’t have that urgency to respond to crisis. Tis why you’re failing to even form concrete demands.

Until the urgency to survive isn’t ingrained in your movement, your parties will be subdued, bomb, and deathcamped.

I didn’t say there wasn’t any urgency. It’s just that nonviolent resistance movements work by putting successive cracks in the regime’s pillars of support—until ultimately the whole regime crumbles. And that necessarily takes time.

I agree with you that many Americans don’t feel the urgency to respond to this crisis. But the number and variety of folks who do feel urgency is increasing over time, what with the growing desperate insanity of the regime. Just look at all the folks from all walks of life joining the resistance in Minnesota. Or the ever-increasing number of everyday people coming out for each No Kings. Many Americans are head-in-the-sand, but their numbers are decreasing over time.

Where we disagree is around concrete demands. Resistance groups have made concrete demands against Avelo, Disney, Sinclair, and so on. And all of them have buckled under the pressure and acceded to the demands. And in many other cases, concrete demands are being made even when the pressure hasn’t quite worked—yet.

Please go back and read the rest of this thread. I’ve included links to find out more about groups working on that. But just one example is multiple cities and counties that, under direct pressure from their citizens, have passed ordinances prohibiting detention centers in their jurisdictions.
So you believe neighbor watches, barricades, and ordinances will put successive cracks in the Nazi’s active genocides?
Yes, those are pieces of of the whole. No single one of those is sufficient by itself, but combined with all the other resistance efforts going on, they will accumulate enough pressure to make the regime topple.

It’s the popularly elected government, that’s been planned for for decades.

Enjoy the genocide you elected for.

Just because a government started out as legitimately elected doesn’t mean it’s operating legally or in keeping with democratic values. Ever heard of Victor Orbán?
Ever heard of qualified immunity?

What does that have to do with this?
Everything: 🇺🇲 hasn’t ceased being a Nazi country even after the war. Cops get to sundown town minorities, and the “regime” stays legally the same.
