Somehow, we need to get the general populace of Ontario to realize that long ER wait times are bad.

#onpoli

My best guess is that most people don't have to go to the ER all that often, so it doesn't seem like a problem worth fixing.

Note my following post here

@hewer_of_code I'd like to know where the billions in Federal health transfer payments went. It doesn't seem like it went into Ontario Health.
Ontario ERs saw almost 300,000 walkouts in 2024, study shows

A new survey shows Ontario emergency room wait times were so bad that almost 300,000 patients gave up and left untreated in the last year.

@kevinrns I'll check it out.

I read this earlier today, which inspired my post.

@hewer_of_code Yeah, but we can now drive to the gas station to buy beer and not have to slow down for school zone cameras! Ford will turn his genius to ER wait times next, I'm sure. Priorities.
@hewer_of_code AND that the provincial government is responsible for health care.
@hewer_of_code And the fault of Doug Ford's government, by and large.
@ZenHeathen Yeah, it's kind of mind boggling to me. He originally campaigned on a promise to fix it. It's only gotten worse, and it just gets a 🤷‍♂️ from the population.
@hewer_of_code This is the same population that also seems content watching other provinces get access to free pharmaceuticals and expanded treatments.
@hewer_of_code Just as important is waking Ontarians up about how privatization of services is not a solution. It will make a few people rich and leave a lot more people poor and sick.

@hewer_of_code

Last time the paramedics were called (I suffer chronic, terminal lung & heart disease) I refused a trip to the ER because I couldn't bear the thought of lying strapped into a gurney for 6 hours.

I'm still waiting for the pollsters to ask 𝐦𝐲 opinion on that …

@drakakis One of our family members had a serious health issue where we *should* have called the paramedics sooner, but put it off because we knew what was waiting for us in the ER.

By the time we did call, it had gotten so bad that they bumped us to the front of the queue.

@hewer_of_code

See, it worked! Couldn't convince my nurse of that …

@drakakis It worked, but... it feels like playing roulette with our health.
