Is it just me, or do all of the #StarTrekDS9 alien languages look like an absolute pain to hand-write?

Cardassian https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Cardassian_language needs a pen with variable stroke width.

Bajoran https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Bajoran_language consists of highly complex pictogram-like glyphs.

Ferengi https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Ferengi_language requires variable stroke thickness again, and also requires you to draw flowchart-like lines.

Dominionese https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Dominionese has large filled shapes.

Cardassian language

The Cardassian language was the spoken and written language of the Cardassians used on Cardassia Prime. Cardassian writing was composed of slender rectangular letters usually widening at the top. Lines of text were written both horizontally and vertically, radiating out from an elaborate circle motif. Lines of text also incorporated dots. (TNG: "Chain Of Command, Part II"; DS9: "Tribunal", "Things Past") By 2259, Starfleet officer Nyota Uhura was familiar with the Cardassian language. She...

Memory Alpha
Trill https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Trill_language is relatively sane in that glyphs are one or two strokes with a fixed-width pen, but the glyphs are usually seen on top of triangular background shapes for some reason. I'm guessing that's just a style and they can still read their language even without that, since obviously that would make handwriting on a uniform surface like paper impossible.
Trill language

The Trill language was the spoken language of the Trill. When performing the zhian'tara ceremony, a Guardian says a special ritual over a vat of symbiont mud, to transfer the telepathic presence of a previous host. (DS9: "Facets") Ezri Dax recited a similar ritual individually to commune with Joran. (DS9: "Field of Fire") The Trill written language is composed of rounded-triangles with squiggly lines in them. Miles O'Brien was able to read payroll records in the Trill written language. (DS9...

Memory Alpha

The Borg https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Borg_language have a written language, surprisingly enough. I would think such a thing unnecessary, given that their minds are all linked. But their language isโ€ฆmore like a diagram than a glyph-based language like we are familiar with, which I guess makes sense for a race who all have computers in their heads.

Borg language

The Borg language was the language used by Borg drones and the Borg Collective, written in alphanumeric code. The code consisted of circular symbols with geometric shapes cut out of them. These symbols could be seen on various control panels, labels, and viewscreens within Borg structures. It was written in horizontal lines going from left to right and right to left, and vertically. (TNG: "Q Who", et al.) During Seven of Nine's integration into the crew of the USS Voyager, she still...

Memory Alpha
@argv_minus_one This means the Borg still has paper work.

@catsalad

I don't think one could feasibly write the Borg language on paper. Not without a color printer, at least.

@argv_minus_one Wonder how to say "Cyan Low" in Borg?
