The perfect merger of "Go to the cloud," they said, "It'll be fine," they said,

and

"AI is going great"

has happened, @Viss

@neurovagrant @Viss I hope it's an April Fool's prank, but the message is clear: If you don't have a copy of your data, you could lose all of it in the blink of an eye (or a flash of the wiener in this case).

@JustinDerrick

and this could also have been an actual wiener that the AI mistakes for a „wiener“

@neurovagrant @Viss

@neurovagrant @Viss It is quite incredible. Small business owners should think twice before depending on Google. On the other hand, Google Workspace is so easy to use for non-technical people. No easy answers.
@neurovagrant heh, ive had like two of these already - this makes three!

@neurovagrant @Viss

this person should probably be asking a real lawyer, not a legal advice reddit

@neurovagrant @Viss

This is why I never trust a computer or storage device I cannot touch.

@starraven @Viss quit trusting the ones you can touch
@neurovagrant @Viss I'm off Google now but when I used their cloud storage I still backed up to an external hard drive. Not having multiple backups is just stupid. Proton now btw.

@neurovagrant @Viss

I feel little sympathy for this man. Maybe that makes me a bad person, IDK.

@neurovagrant @Viss owh wow... that' s cruel!.. Things like this are also the reason I do not have any important data stored on American Sites or at Big Tech. 🫣 I hope he can get his data back soon...
