I hate AI for a ton of reasons but lately it’s because it’s taken the joy out of scrolling through funny animal videos online. I can’t tell if that funny cat video is real any more so what’s the point? #FuckAI

Yet another thing AI has ruined for all of us - Nostalgic fun.

I came across these cool, nostalgic pictures supposedly from the set of #StarTrek TOS classic episode City on the Edge of Forever.

I squealed w/joy because I’ve NEVER seen them before. The comments were filled with happy Trek fans but close scrutiny reveals they must be AI slop. The last pict is NOT Joan Collins plus other clues.

None of us can trust anything online anymore and it royally sucks.

#FuckAI

The alternative of course, is that these images are real. The woman in the last image could very well be a stand in for Joan Collins. But the mere fact that AI makes me doubt myself and/or forces me to do the work to find out whether they are real or not, takes all the fun out of it.

It’s a total Kobayashi Maru situation #StarTrek #FuckAI

@gedeonm Have you come across this tool? fotoforensics.com
It takes a bit of work but is worth a play. There’s tutorials. I couldn’t do much with these pics as I’m using my iPad, it’s better on a computer. Looking at the initial analysis though, it doesn’t show any obvious alterations. Then again if they’re AI generated, maybe there wouldn’t be 🤷‍♀️
@crystalentity interesting, thx for that. The more I look at these photos though the more I’m convinced they ai. They’re all too perfect. They have classic telltale signs of AI construction, including the light leaks at the sides to make them try to look old, even though the lighting in all of the images is perfect and even. Add to that the crew members aren’t actually looking through the viewfinders of the cameras and other clues and it’s AI.
