Trams and trains are all free (in response to fuel prices) from today in Victoria, and I’m going to ride so many trains, guys.
@hacks4pancakes It just occurred to me that it would be even better if Victoria adopted the German subscription model - a low flat fee for use of all public transport per month...
@Nigel_Lake @hacks4pancakes it's not that low anymore :( It's risen from 48 to 63 euros in less than two years.

@michcampbell @hacks4pancakes I'd still call that extremely cheap!

For comparison:
πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ London zone 1,2: Β£171.70
πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Paris €92
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ NYC metro US$132
πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Melbourne A$228
... and those are just urban networks.

I don't know if the German pass includes commuter time (is that still a thing?) - but in UK a monthly commuter pass ("season ticket") costs:
🐬 Brighton £320
πŸš— Swindon Β£485
πŸŽ“ Cambridge Β£368

@Nigel_Lake @hacks4pancakes yeah, its not bad but most months I struggle to take enough journeys to cover the fare. But I live in a small city and can bike everywhere, it would be different in a big city of if you commute by public transport.

British PT is a privatised nightmare, amazing that anyone can afford it!!
