When the Deputy Attorney General suggests sending ICE officers to polling places, it’s not just rhetoric. It’s part of a pattern we’ve seen before, where extreme ideas move from the CPAC stage into government action. This is how those ideas move from provocation to policy. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/cpac-pipeline-fascism-maga

Fiery and extremist rhetoric out of CPAC may seem like a sideshow, but it’s really a pipeline

The Big Picture
@georgetakei
We need a new law to keep ICE out of polling places and election centers.
Though perhaps some old law covers this.
@ilust606 @georgetakei there is a federal law against putting federal officers within distance of a polling place that it would cause anxiety on the part of the voters or the poll workers It's a leftover from the civil rights era, but it still applies. It is a fact, however, that this administration often ignores the law and responds to the law only when there is a court decision. I hope we don't have to wait till election day to start that case!

@ilust606 why would we keep them out? is it because theyve become commonly known as criminals: traitors and murderers? aren't those very serious crimes?

we have an enforcement problem. more laws are a distraction. we shouldnt even have to be considering those if we enforced the ones we have right now.

thats called corruption.
