@theynege The racist assbuckets in PR have targeted several Indigenous kids over past few years. Full grown adults, picking on native kids - they're so fucked in head. 2 of my friends left the area over a year ago & moved to the island where some of their relatives live. They moved after getting tired of being targeted by local PR racists - it's understandable. One of them is in her early 60s & wants to live without being scared to leave her home alone.

@theynege When Indigenous people there try to complain about the racism, harassment, bullying, targeted hate crimes(there's been several that don't make news because they have no trust in local RCMP to help them) - they're often told:
"You people blame everything on race! White people don't owe you anything! You lost the fight. Get over it! You Indians always want more handouts! Get a job!"

They say that kind of shit to Indigenous people with jobs - logic & truth isn't their strong suit. They're also terrified of land back movement because they think Indigenous peoples are gonna kick all white people off lands - which shows how little they know about the movement.

@PhoenixSerenity that kind of shit is always in white people's back pockets and even though on a conscious level I'm sure a lot of folks do know that residential schooling was real and an utter fucking crime, I think a lot of people I may interact with normally now would be happy to change their tune on this subject first if they could get away with it.

It's just so ridiculous that having an Orange Shirt Day or whatever is supposed to signify that we've overcome this racism, but it's still easily within reach if it will benefit a white person to use it. We have to decolonize our fucking minds.

@theynege I hear you, on all of this 💯! It's been enraging to keep hearing awful lived experiences from many different Indigenous friends. They're always accused of weaponizing racism when they're only fighting for overdue social & eco/environmental justice! I will always put my body, tiny as it is, between the more vulnerable Indigenous peoples under racist attacks - every time I'm around in person when shit like this happens. I'm OK absorbing some of the hits to give them a wee break.

@PhoenixSerenity @theynege they puff up and gaslight because they haven't a leg to stand on. Fucking cowards. The RCMP know their history and they can't reconcile it because it's evil. Full stop.

@SallyFieldlight @theynege The RCMP have treated Indigenous folks horrifically for too long - with impunity. Our shitass governments keep giving them budget increases too 😡

@PhoenixSerenity @theynege they are doing EXACTLY what they were created to do....still, after all we know! The government can keep their tokens and attempts to appease people. It's all gotta go. There is no "reforming" these systems of oppression. Burn. It. Down.

That is so close to verbatim for my chat with my aunt in BC. She's nowhere near Richmond but is scared. I asked if her house was on treaty land, she didn't know. Ignorance + irrational fear = conservative.

@NMBA @theynege The recent legal win by Cowichan Tribes has also fueled paranoia & fed into increased racism in BC - against Indigenous peoples. I've heard very nasty shit come out of racist mouths, very recently.

@PhoenixSerenity @theynege stories like this make me wonder what stunts the minds of these bullying fucks. I also suspect deep self loathing. Regardless, it's unforgivable.
