The Säuerling Tower in Boppard (Rhein-Hunsrück district, Rhineland-Palatinate), which formed part of the town’s medieval defences, stood in the way of railway construction; as a result, it was demolished between 1906 and 1908 and rebuilt with thinner walls to the north of its original location.
