The Säuerling Tower in Boppard (Rhein-Hunsrück district, Rhineland-Palatinate), which formed part of the town’s medieval defences, stood in the way of railway construction; as a result, it was demolished between 1906 and 1908 and rebuilt with thinner walls to the north of its original location.

All that remains of the former castle in Düsseldorf’s Old Town is this tower, located near the banks of the Rhine, which today houses a maritime museum. The castle was destroyed by a fire in 1872. The tower had been rebuilt in 1845 in the Italian Neo-Renaissance style.
Behind it stands St. Lambertus, the oldest church in the Old Town (built between 1288 and 1394).

The Ulrepforte was built in the early 13th century as part of Cologne’s medieval city wall. Around 1450, a tower was added to it and it was converted into the Kartäuser Windmill.
The mill tower is all that remains of it.
