Q. How do we end wars over oil?

A. Switch to renewables.

No need to fight over sunlight and wind. They are owned by no one. No need to clean up their spills.

What does the Iran war mean for clean energy transition?

Here’s what to know about how the current crisis could shape the expansion of renewable energy

@GeraldKutney One problem with that. War is still powered by oil, and gas for explosives.

You may get a green utopia someday, but there will never be a green empire.

Those who want military hard power will still need fossil fuels.

On the good side, war in the Middle East will lead to oil importing countries buying small scale and distributed solar. If you cannot get fuel for your generator, "buy a solar and battery system" is the obvious way to get your power back on.

@GeraldKutney Would be great if renewables could substitute for oil and gas. Unfortunately in our initial use case for renewables (dumping power onto the grid) we still can’t cover the seasonal slumps without using gas. From a climate perspective there are better ways to use our renewables than dumping onto the grid: namely green steel.
