@hannah @radicalrobit you could hold your saw up in the air and move it back and forth, which is less effort than if there was wood there, but also much less ergonomic so I wouldn't recommend it, definitely get wood first

This will be how I describe myself henceforth : Light brown heartwood with almost all white sapwood. Straight grain with coarse texture. Excellent bending properties and shock resistance.
