Y2K not being a big deal was because thousands (likely millions) of people and companies did a lot of work for years to make it a non-issue.
(I was there - one company I worked at had over 1200 internally written applications pre-y2k - in the mid-1990βs web 1 era they employed over 2000 full time programmers. After y2k remediation we had it down to 600 apps which had all been updated and tested

Fun fact: These things made me realize at the age of 36 what it really means that my brain doesn't use the input signal of my right eye since I was born and that other people percieve the world in a way I can't and will never be able to percieve.
I know what 3D means in theory but I have no idea what it actually looks like. I sat in front of one of these tvs and was like "Well, the picture looks exactly like my tv at home." π
