el_haych2024@itsfoss ah. Kind of like how Pixel's have dedicated RAM for Gemini, it's not listing the total RAM needed., making it seem like it uses less.

I doubt with these specs any Ubuntu derivat is fitting.
There are distributions out there with less scripting in runtime. One could use Debian for example.

mausmalone@itsfoss honestly it's the Windows figure that seems divorced from reality. My work PC hovers at 9 GB used before I even open an app. Add to that the 1.5 GB reserved by the onboard GPU and I quickly hit virtual memory by opening the mandatory electron apps.

why shouldn't I switch to light weight Xfce displaymanager ? Gnome also should be resized downwards. I promise Ubuntu doesn't need so many GBs any more.
