Did 500 today (00:00-23:59) so 27 this hour is pretty good. Maybe 30 more hours at this point. Why am I doing this?

Last night I played Capcom's "Rival School", a 3D fighter from 1998. I did one go through on default difficulty with Gan, I like the big guys. It was very much a late 90's Capcom fighter, which isn't a bad thing. Disc 2 is full of mini-games, including a dating sim. Had "Treehouse of Horror IX" on in the background for part of it as it premiered 3 days before the game's US release. I really wanna play again and git gud but there are better capcom fighters on psx.
Tonite's game was DreamFactory's "Tobal № 1" another 3D fighter. This one's from 96 & it shows. I won a tournament as the devil guy on normal in 30 minutes. Reminded me a lot of "Virtua Fighter" on the Saturn, on purpose I assume. The Gannon looking guy is so big he blocks the HUD. The dungeon crawling quest mode is cool but a lil much given the controller. There is a "Tobal № 2" that is better in nearly every way but it is a Japanese exclusive. Would've been better with 2 players.
As of right now I've been drawing them at random and trying to play at least a half an hour. I'm trying to do at least one a day but I'm sure I'll miss days, and play multiple titles on other days.
I also plan on stopping to play through a game if it's: a banger, already on my backlog, an all time favorite, or whatever. The point is to play games.
This morning I played Namco's "Point Blank" a 94 arcade light gun game that came to the psx in 98. This was not my first time playing it. It was okay but using a mouse as a light gun definitely took away from the overall package. It did not keep my attention, but I hear the sequels are better. Did not try the quest mode.
Played "Roll Away" last night. It was alright, not the perfect perspective puzzle game but still fun. The perspective shifting didn't give me motion sickness, which was surprising. It barely kept my attention for the entire half an hour, but was fine. My mom would've liked it back in the day.
You always hear about dudes who owned PlayStations but no games because they were good competitively priced CD players (or dvd/blu ray players for later generations), well "Roll Away" feels like a game made just for those guys.
Played "Bio Freaks" at pickup today, a Midway 3D fighter that skipped arcades. It was not good. You have a projectile so just spam that. Did a tournament on normal as Delta in a half an hour. Played on a 3.5" ips screen on a sunny day without my reading glasses, which did not improve the experience.
It was not well received by anyone. Even Nintendo Power's 78% (for the n64 version) was on the low side for them. I didn't know anyone who had "Bio Freaks" as a a kid, but I remember seeing it at the video store a lot.
Played "Warhawk", a 95 flight sim, last night. This is an early longbox title with fmv cutscenes. The gameplay is rough but forgiving, no explosion if you bump something. Had some fun but "Rouge Squadron" this is not. It reviewed well at a time when there were only 2 dozen other games on the #psx
Also played "TOCA 2: Touring Car Challenge" a UK Motorsports sim. It was fine. I enjoyed the races I did play but I honestly fell asleep on my 3rd or 4th race. Maybe I'll go back and try it again sometime.
Played "Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX" at pickup today. Used to play the Dreamcast version as a kid, felt like a step down especially on my g350 but nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Wasn't good at it, had a lot of fun. Would've had more fun if I knew about the level select cheat.
Also played "Disney's The Little Mermaid II" with my kid. She did most of the playing and really enjoyed it. Seemed okay for what it was. There are, something like, two dozen more Disney games on the list.
What if I got out a crt & a real playstation to play some games, you know as a bit? Just saw a video on how to run #psx isos from usb using fmcb, sounds like emulation tho. I wonder if can run duckstation on the crt, used to have a lil winxp tower with rca jacks for thinks like this.
Pretty sure the usb ports on the ps2 are usb 1.1, so this might not be particular.
Played the #psx port of "Gauntlet Legends" this morning (on my g350). I used to play the arcade version with my siblings and a cousin while our dads bowled, once a week, for years. Didn't live up to my memories but what does. "... Dark Legacy" had a better home port.
Also played "Pepsiman" today. I played it on epsxe about a dozen years ago when it was a retro gaming meme, has t changed. It is just a runner that was created as an advert but not a horrible one. What else can you say about it. #psx

I was gonna trade in my PS1 and four games to GameStop (I mainly rented or swapped/sold games to friends because poverty) to offset my PS2 cost but they had a much better deal if you trade five in
So I bought the cheapest one they had for $3
