I used to be a prolific journaler using Day One (I have over 11.5k entries). There are many reasons I’ve slowed down, most not technical, but one is that the iOS app takes a very long time to open, and is sluggish once it does. It’s a pain to pop it open, jot something down, and move on.

So I guess I’m looking for a new journaling app. Requirements:

- iOS and Mac
- Quick entry shortcut on Mac
- e2e encrypted sync (I’m comfortable managing my own keys)
- Snappy™
- Can import many, many entries

@noleli I just use Notes. It’s fine.
@nuthatch that doesn’t seem bad at all. Too bad you can’t password protect a folder. (Guess I forgot to list that in my requirements)
I should be so lucky anyone cares to read my journal, it’s deeply boring. A write-only exercise pretty much 😆
