It's true!
In (low quality) fact, a single uncooked spaghetti noodle is good for up to three locks!

@alice
Sorry about spoiling the fun, but iβm sad about the brand choice.
@zipkid oof, good to know! (I borrowed the single noodle from my roommate, then threw it in the compost after).
Fuck though, why do bigots have to ruin everything? π€¬

Oh wait, this article is 13 years old. Is this boycott ongoing? Or has the company switched CEO's or anything since?
@CordiallyChloe @alice @zipkid It looks like they did an about-face. Interesting.

If I remember correctly, they had a pretty effective turnaround after that happened. I need to find where I put the bookmark. I'll update this post shortly...
Update: I can't find the write-up I was thinking of, but here are a few sources

@alice @zipkid
@solitha Oh, I see they made amends in https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2018/11/barilla-released-limited-edition-spaghetti-lesbian-art-box/ and
https://www.barillagroup.com/en/purpose/diversity-inclusion/lgbtq/
On the other hand, the same Wikipedia article says Barilla is still operating in Russia and has increased their profits there since Russia invaded Ukraine.
So I don't need to rush back from Ronzoninand supermarket brands (especially since my wife has gone gluten-free).
@alice @zipkid @lowqualityfacts I don't have any of the references in front of me, but I remember reading that Barilla had distanced itself from the CEO for those remarks and was mostly divested from him.
i.e. the brand Barilla didn't like that talk either and has done better.
(if that's not true, I'm going to have to start shopping for different pasta again.)
@LexPendragon @alice @zipkid @lowqualityfacts
They have made a nearly complete turnaround following the CEOs remarks. They are now considered very inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ+ rights and organizations!
I know of all the PR efforts to save the brand by keeping their CEO quiet and showing a different face. I still will not buy it.
