Perennial reminder: IKEA sells induction plates for $50.

Cap the gas line, put the induction plate on top of the gas stove, and avoid spewing carcinogens into your home.

Yes, you can also spend $5k on that beautiful high-end stove, while vying for that Michelin star.

@gwagner The IKEA ones were £40 when I saw them in store last week.

@gwagner I used to feel physically sick cooking over the gas hob. Wish I'd switched to induction years before.

Didn't even need an electrician to fit it. Ours is a Bosch 4 ring 13amp model - plenty of power for all our cooking needs (in the UK).

@gwagner Where are you spending $5k on an induction stove? You can buy a good one for at most $1k
@yessikg @gwagner Something like a Gaggenau CV492105M easily parts you from five grands.

@gwagner I have an induction cooktop / hob / whatever you want to call it. It's okay, but if I had it to do over again, I'd just get Duxtop hotplates and put them where I needed them. Duxtop has really good control over how much heat gets to your pot for about one tenth the price.

It's primarily a for-the-restaurant-trade brand, from what I understand, and that method (hotplates where you want them) is what retaurant kitchens are moving to instead of hobs.
