great idea; UK should do the same...

@glynmoody I agree, but I can also hear the cries of "but I won't use it, so I don't want to pay for it" a mile off :(
@philpem
At least you'll be able to get further away from them for free!
@glynmoody
@glynmoody Luxembourg has been doing this for some time now, too, as I found out earlier this year.
@dh interesting - thanks
@glynmoody Who pays that? You with your taxes!
@ur1man5 yes, but the economy as a whole benefits, and that means ultimately taxes will be lower - it's short term cost, long term benefit

@ur1man5 @glynmoody the alternative is subsidizing petrol for cars, and use tax money for that.

it's such a hard choice eh

@glynmoody I can't help thinking that they will offer free parking instead
@glynmoody sounds like we’ll end up freezing fuel duty despite it having been frozen for years allowing everyone to decide it’s okay to buy American sized SUVs and trucks.
@fds yes, seems likely
@glynmoody @ianbetteridge @fulelo Luxembourg has had free public transport for around 6 years now.. and we are using it.
