My paper airplane wouldn't fly, it was just stationary.

@kibcol1049 Now that's the sort of joke that gets the grammar police confused. It's paper so it must be stationery, but it's not moving so it's stationary!

It could keep them going in circles for hours! 😄

@NormanDunbar @kibcol1049

The grammar police in some parts of the world might take exception at "airplane" too. 😄

@TheLancashireman @NormanDunbar @kibcol1049

Surely that's a perfectly good word?

@PhilthyPierre @TheLancashireman @kibcol1049 Some might say that it should be "aeroplane".

The same sort of folk who get upset by "train station" instead of "railway station" 😉

@NormanDunbar @PhilthyPierre @TheLancashireman Word meanings don't make a lot of sense, with many rules that have exceptions. For example flammable and inflammable. They sound contrary but actually mean exactly the same.

@kibcol1049 @PhilthyPierre @TheLancashireman True.

I can be disgruntled about something, but never gruntled!

@NormanDunbar @kibcol1049 @PhilthyPierre

Overwhelmed, but not underwhelmed or even merely whelmed.

@TheLancashireman @NormanDunbar @kibcol1049 @PhilthyPierre
I think I understand.
Well, at least I don't overstand.

@DC4AC @TheLancashireman @NormanDunbar @kibcol1049 @PhilthyPierre

I wonder what it would be like to instand.
